Wynnum Croquet Club

About

Wynnum Croquet Club was founded in Feb 1925 starting on the lawns surrounding the historic Shire Clerks cottage.  It was mainly played by women, and in 2003, we had our first  male President. Over the years, our club has grown with a regular membership, all of whom are active, and most play each week.

Croquet has several forms, those being Association, Golf croquet (in our club it is the most popular), Ricochet and Gateball.

Croquet can be explained as being a mix of chess, snooker and lawn bowls. The aim being to get your ball(s) through a series of hoops before your opponent.

The different tactics and techniques used are always crutial to winning the game.

We have many social players and also competitive players.

Those interested in competing can be included in events held at our home club, plus other croquet clubs, not only in Brisbane but Queensland wide.  Those interested in the social side will find lots of laughter on the courts during play.

Days of play are Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and for something different, Thursday night we play under lights. It's a great place to be on a hot summers evening when the Bay breeze comes in.

We always welcome new players, and coaching is available.
